How to Add Captions to a Video

Caption styles

• Fade — clean and neutral, good for explainers.
• Slide — captions enter with motion, good for social video.
• Typewriter — text reveals character by character.
• Karaoke — the active word is highlighted in your chosen colour.

Placement and legibility

Position captions lower-third, centre or top. For vertical video, lower-third keeps text clear of platform UI at the top. A background pill and an outline are both available for contrast over busy footage.

Fixing caption timing

If captions run slightly ahead of or behind the voice, use the timing offset in milliseconds instead of re-editing every timestamp in the script.
